Project Impact

Real stories from our projects showing the tangible difference BACE makes in rural Gambian communities.

Fatou's Story - Healthcare Impact

Prior to our March 2014 volunteer trip, we promoted a free trial clinic. Fatou, age 9, walked miles with her father to visit us. She had a badly infected foot for many months, but without facility and funds for treatment, it was getting worse day by day.

Our volunteer nurses treated Fatou's foot daily with clean bandages and found her comfortable shoes from donated supplies. For the first time, her injury was given the chance to heal properly, and she could finally get better.

First Births at BACE Clinic

It was a proud and emotional moment during our November 2014 trip to officially open the BACE Primary Health Care Clinic alongside 32 UK volunteers, school children, families, and Gambian education and medical board dignitaries.

The clinic provides essential maternity services, and it was a milestone for us all when our first two babies were born at the clinic in December 2014, marking the beginning of a new era of accessible healthcare for the community.

Over £200,000 Raised Since 2011

Through grants, events, and individual donor campaigns, BACE has raised over £200,000 for community projects. We are grateful to every member of the BACE family for making this transformation possible.
